Why Curls are Different

No two curl types are the same. Each curl pattern is uniquely different, and because each grows differently, each needs specialized care, cutting techniques and treatments to cater to curls’ unique needs.

Fundamentally, curls require internal moisture and nutrients to form and hold shape. Their natural arcs and angles, however, expose the cuticle layer, allowing natural moisture and nutrients constantly to escape, and climatic aggressors, chemicals and heavy ingredients to be readily absorbed. This results in curls appearing lackluster, heavily weighed down and distorted.

Ouidad prides itself on uniquely catering to the four specific curl types: Loose, Classic, Tight and Kinky. Each curl type commands its own specialized prescription to enhance the natural curl pattern.
