Certified Stylists

Artistic Educator/ Stylist
After a 10 year career in photography, Pia began her hairdressing career by entering the Aveda Natural Talent competition where she won a full tuition scholarship to the Aveda Institute in SoHo New York. Upon graduation she began apprenticing in precision haircutting at the Vidal Sassoon downtown NYC salon. From there she further developed her creative skills training under former Sassoon creative director, Cristiano Cora. She was then asked to join the education team at Arrojo and spent three years working as a lead educator performing demos alongside Nick Arrojo, teaching for his cosmetology school and his advanced academy. In 2013 her ongoing personal projects earned her a double page spread in the New York Times Sunday edition for her work as key hair stylist for Adam Harvey's anti-surveillance project, CV Dazzle. Using her technical background, Ouidad techniques, and love for natural beauty, Pia is excited to help clients fall in love with their curls and learn how to manage their texture.
Growing up with thick, unruly curls, Marissa developed a love/hate relationship with her hair. This led to an ongoing pursuit of understanding beauty, culminating with a BA in Gender Studies from UCLA focusing on hair and the impact it has on an emotional and aesthetic level. Upon graduation, she decided to further her studies, receiving her cosmetology license from the prestigious Sassoon Academy. Marissa realized her early frustrations with her curls stemmed from a general lack of curly hair knowledge and a hesitancy to embrace tresses that were so different from her peers'. She set her sights on becoming a Curl Specialist to educate and encourage people to embrace and love their natural hair. That quest led her to Ouidad, where she rigorously trained at both the LA and New York Flagship locations through their top-notch apprenticeship program. Marissa’s mission is to empower both men and women to confidently wear their natural hair, and to provide them with the information and the encouragement needed to successfully do so. She says, “I want to challenge existing beauty standards, put to rest the misconception that curly hair can’t be healthy hair, and help people to feel confident and beautiful in their own skin - one curl friend at a time.”
When asked as a kid what she wanted to be when she grew up, Becca proudly announced her ambitions as an artist. Her first canvas was her own hair. The process set her on a course to learn to produce incredible, dimensional, color while still maintaining the integrity of the hair. Becca enrolled in Aveda Institute directly after graduating from a fine arts high school to pursue her cosmetology license. Upon graduation Becca joined ULTA; utilizing her innate sense of color theory to produce amazing color results. Scouted on Instagram by Ouidad Curl-Advisory Board member, Lauren Moser, Becca was whisked away to apprentice at the award-winning Hair Lab Detroit. Becca was featured on the salon’s social media and promotional materials; displaying fantastic color results on a multitude of different textures. At the recommendation of her mentor, Becca joined the Flagship Ouidad Salon in Santa Monica. Working tirelessly with the Flagship Senior Education Team in Los Angeles and New York City, Becca excelled through the apprenticeship program, and became a Goldwell Master Colorist. Becca’s passion for education has allowed her to hone her unique and fresh perspective to cutting, coloring, and caring for curls. “I was never dissuaded from experimenting with my hair color because of my texture,” Becca says, “and as a stylist, I wanted to extend that flexibility to every client - waves, coils, and kinks included.

I finally took the plunge in 2013 and had Alenka cut my curly hair. I live 5 hours North of San Francisco in Humbold County and no one cuts hair the Ouidad Way! In the interim I visited Ouidad certified salons and only found one other in Sacramento that came close to Alenka's expertise until today (June 27th) when Wren cut and styled my hair. PErfection in the cut and the style...I just LOVE it and her ability to give me what I want in a style and such a flattering cut. She is perfection! I started out in Santa Monica and will definitely return to Santa Monica and to Wren! The entire staff at the Santa Monica Salon are professional and friendly. Thanks again the Wren!

I decided to do a big chop and cut all my hair off in the back. My friend referred me to this Salon and I'm so glad that I went. Marissa did a fantastic job and she's so sweet and bubbly. All the girls in the Salon were so nice and I just loved the entire vibe! Those girls really know their curls.

I had unruly curly hair that I could not control. I came and left completely satisfied- almost no one can style my hair but they did it! I was so excited and felt so chic as I left and for days afterward! I get so many compliments now and never got any on prior hair cuts. My questions were answered and I was given tips to style it myself. It was my first time at Ouidad and it wont be the last! Thanks so much!
