Over twenty-five years ago when I decided to open a salon and develop products specifically for curly and wavy hair everyone from beauty editors to bankers told me I was crazy.

I didn't listen for a second. I knew that so many curly-haired people out there needed someone to help them understand their curls and teach them how to care for them.

When I was a young girl my mother never knew what to do with my curls. Most of the time my hair was thrown up on the top of my head and tied with a large bow - not exactly a look to instill curl confidence in a young girl! I have spent many hours speaking with my clients about their curls and realize that we all shared a similar struggle. Some still carry the memories of traumatic curl-related events from their childhood and others just never thought their curls could be beautiful. My goal is to empower everyone to see that curly hair is a gift to be celebrated and enjoyed.

I believe curly hair is the most beautiful hair and I want you to love your hair everyday. All of my products are gentle, moisturizing and water-soluble. They work from the inside out to transform hair into its healthiest condition. If you are able to visit a Ouidad salon, my trademarked Carve & Slice cutting method provides the foundation for beautiful curls. I also encourage you to visit the styling section of this site to learn the essentials for styling curls.
