Only the stylists listed above are certified in Ouidad's Carving and Slicing techniques. Be sure to ask for them by name when booking your appointment.

Ouidad certified salons are selected for their demonstrated excellence and enthusiasm for curly hair. Each Ouidad Certified Stylist has completed 6 months of preparatory training at their respective salon before they are eligible to attend Ouidad's Curl Education Center in NYC for intensive "Carve and Slice" training. Stylists must demonstrate their mastery in consulting, cutting, and styling clients, and not every stylist that takes the course is successful and awarded certification.

"Carving and slicing" is a technique for cutting and styling curly hair invented, refined and trademarked by Ouidad. Taking one section of the hair at a time, the stylist carves or slices with the wave of the curl while maintaining the length of the hair. The result is curls that cup gracefully into each other, instead of stacking out. Caution: Never allow a stylist to "thin-out" or "layer" your curly hair.
