I had beautiful wonderful curls until I cut my hair and I started wearing it straight. But with the summer humidity straightening it was not an option anymore. When I tried wearing it curly again it was a complete disaster. I went to Ouidad and Alex showed me just how to style it. It takes a little time to perfect the rake and shake technique, and to learn how much product to use, but as you get more comfortable, the results keep improving every time. Just make sure you have a diffuser, makes all the difference!
Had the pleasure of being a hair model @ the Ouidad NY Salon. Ye it was the BEST hair experience I've ever had in my life! Ouidad is the Queen of curls! The carve & slice tech is truly a miracle for curls. I no longer have mushroom head. - All the pieces of the puzzle have finally come together I am overjoyed with the haircut. I love my curls. Hated my hair for 25 years. After my visit to salon and spending an hour with Virginia, I realized that I can change my appearance completely by just spending 10-30 mins. Virginia explained all the products and how to manage everyday. Brittany who washed my hair explained the shampoo and conditioner and when and how to use them. They are amazing. Can't wait to go back.
I had the pleasure of being a hair model for a recent training session, and was extremely impressed with the level of skill and knowledge displayed by both Cypriano and Alex as they assisted my stylist. He had never handled hair like mine before long, think, tight curls.... frizzy and unruly! but they were very competent and took a lot of care to ensure that the stylist working on my hair executed my cut with precision and skill!Ouidad may be beyond my budget right now, but I'm saving up so that I can come back to see these amazing folks in 6 months! It was everything I expected.... AND MORE!
I have had a love- hate relationship with my hair for 37 years. I am a Latina with very curly hair...and the attempts to keep it straight were unsuccessful as my hair always ended up frizzy. I love Virginia! She made me fall in love with my hair. I now get complimented by total strangers. I recommend Ouidad salon to everyone with curly hair. Seriously worth the cost!
This is my second time seeing Alex at the Ouidad salon. In January I got just the front of my hairline softened because the curl pattern was weird. Now in June, the roots grew in so I needed it touched up but decided to do my full head. The softening eliminated frizz, puffiness & weirdly kinked waves throughout! The process isn't cheap but worth every penny, especially because I only need it twice a year or so. Alex was very nice and understanding of my curl concerns! I'll be back for more softening for sure!!
First time at this salon and was worried that the stylist would want to cut too much hair. I needed shaping to let my hair grow out. Melissa was great and she to recommended cutting as little as possible. She reduced bulk in the back and then taught me how to style and properly use the products. Will definitely go back!
I have been following Ouidad for three years and finally got my cut this weekend by Alex. After all of the years of fighting with my curls, I can't believe the curls that were hiding under all of my frizz! I have had more compliments on my hair in two days than in years. I will definitely be making a trip every three months to visit Alex again.
I have had my hair cut by Virginia twice thus far. She is superb. Every time I make a trip up to New York, I will definitely book an appointment with her.
I visited the Ouidad Salon for the first time on April 27th. The color and style were great! I never left a hair salon with my hair curly...It was great. My hair felt healthy and had many compliments at work. I would without a doubt recommend Ouidad. Hope to go back soon. Thanks Alex!

I just had my third Ouidad cut with Ayanna on Monday Mach 15th. I travel from Virginia and I love Ayanna. My hair looks amazing and will last me 6 months. I wish I lived closer but every chance I get Ayanna will always be my choice when coming to Ouidad. She is excellent!!

Excellent salon. For years I was looking for the cheap way out with my haircuts, and always ended up unsatisified. Melissa was an excellent stylist, showing me exactly how to properly use the hair products. My hair is beautiful now, and I owe it all to Ouidad.

I flew to NYC from Hong Kong in October '08 for two reasons to visit close friends who had left HK two years before, and to get my hair cut at Ouidad. I'd first heard of the salon on my first trip to your great city in 2000, and couldn't then get an appointment, so I was determined to succeed, especially after a friend brought me a bottle of Climate Control to deal with my mixed-race locks. I made an appointment and got pretty excited. But it wasn't until I entered the salon itself, and saw customers and staff of every racial background, and all types of curly hair that I realized what I actually felt I had come home. Now I just have to find time to head Stateside again! THANK YOU for making me love my curls again!

Anila is such a talented stylistcutter. I just introduced my sister-in-law as a client and she loved her cutstyle by Anila. She takes such time with each client and truly cares about each outcome. I always feel special when I leave Ouidad and my hair looks fab for over three months. I feel I get more than my money's worth. It is so cool to see Ouidad herself on the floor working alongside her staff. The pride of craft is so evident here. The entire staff is warm and welcoming. I have always been proud to have curly hair - never a big fan of the flat iron. I have always been a firm believer that not every hairstylist knew how to cut curly hair, even though all stylists think they can. Therefore, I have never felt that my curls had reached their full potential until a friend introduced me to the Ouidad newsletter. Frustrated with my hair, I went searching the website and saw the salon in NYC. I made an appointment with Vincent and I must say that it was the best cut-style I have ever had. I have been able to replicate the great curls at home with the Ouidad products & the shake and rake styling method. Everyone comments on how fabulous my curls are and now I totally agree with them. For years I tried so many different products on my hair in an attempt to tame my curls! For years, many a beloved hairdresser kept my curly hair looking flat. So, at the recommendation of a few curly-haired friends a few years ago, and interested in seeing what Ouidad could do for me, I set up an appointment. As an artist, I am visually attuned to the differences in appearance between Ouidads haircuts and those of other curly competition around the city. Needless to say, whether its been Virginia, Alex or, for the past year, Anila, the Ouidad staff consistently makes my hairand all haircuts that I see walk out of the salonlook incredible. The curls are bouncier, fluffier and are relatively easy to manage. I can easily spot a Ouidad Haircut when I see one in front of me, and no other salon holds up to their Ouidad competion.

Virginia did an amazing job on my hair! I was always scared of getting layers and angles because of all my bad haircut experiences in the past but I absolutely love my new haircut. Virginia really teaches you how to style your hair, she's really awesome. I would definitely recommend her and the salon as a whole to anyone with curly hair. Thanks Virigina!

2 years ago i went for the first time to Ouidad... and since then, my hair its something different.... i love it!!!! I live overseas Panama, and every time i go to NY my first stop is Ouidad, and of course VINCENT!!!!! its been a year since last time i traveled to NY and my hair is in desperate need of Vincent to take charge again.... Love the salon, everyone its great... 5 stars treatment.... and most important love Vincent, hes the BEST, 100 recommended!!!!
It's been a while since my last visit to Ouidad. My curls are thanking me now, after subjecting it to amateur even experimental hair cuts. I want to grow my hair but don't want all the weight in the bottom, so I finally went back, trusting no one else to understand how to do my curls right. Alex was excellent. Very friendly, very knowledgeable, and as she promised, she fixed me.
I flew in last Monday and had the cut and style on tuesday. Very impressed - loved Sarah. she was great with me explaining everything. I finally did it myself. I need some practice. I love going back to natural curls with NO FRIZZ. i walked around all week and you all know what kind of weather you all had last week. Humidity and rain AND NO FRIZZ. I will talkto the onwer of the salon here, because it is one of the best in my area and I think they are missing out on a ton of business with us curly hair gals!!! thanks again jan
