What is the biggest challenge that you hear from clients?
How do you resolve?

Frizzy, dry, out-of-control curls combined with a cut not suited for curly hair and stylists that don't listen to their hair problems or know how to handle curly hair. I help clients understand their own hair issues, explaining the "Ouidad" Carving and Slicing technique for curly hair. The products that I select are for their hair type and I demonstrate how to style and finish their own curls.

What are your best tips for a client?

Use the right shampoo and conditioner for your hair type. Use deep treatments religiously for strength and moisture for a healthy, great shine. Get regular hair trims to remove dry and split ends.

What advice do you have for all the curly haired people in the world?

Know you were born with the most attractive feature since ancient times - sexy curls that emanate beauty and a playful nature. Royalty that was not blessed with curls often wore curly wigs. The men too were considered the most handsome that had curly hair, even today. People without curls have struggled for decades inventing ways to curl their own hair with irons, rollers and chemicals.

What curl or hair trends are you seeing on the runways,
fashion magazines or on the streets?

This fashion season is really fun for curly girls. Texture in all its forms is everywhere – from a short Afro style to long curly locks. Wear your curls tight or loose, up or down, with twisted sections of hair or braids. Hair color also enhances your skin tone and individual style.

What is your secret product tip for great curls?

For added volume at the roots on the top section of the head where hair can often be flat, I recommend adding Styling Mist. After doing the "Rake and Shake," lift the raked curl section and spray Styling Mist at the roots. Then place the curl clips, open clip no more than a half-inch to inch wide. Hold clip on it’s side (not flat) and gently slide clip along scalp and keep it as close to root as possible, particularly in locations where you need volume. Dry hair with a diffuser or allow to air dry. Styling Mist sprayed on curls during the drying also helps keep ringlets together.
