repeatedly through the years. It is a uniquely formulated conditioner used, as needed,
to "feed" and strengthen the hair. This is the single most important step you take
on the road to healthy hair and the cornerstone of your hair care regimen.
How to use Deep
Treatment to intensively condition weak or damaged curls
Ouidad Deep Treatment is a vital step in restoring and maintaining hair's health
and beauty, Ouidad Deep Treatment contains essential amino acids, a mix of proteins,
and effective moisturizers. Its ability to penetrate and renew hair is superior.
For maximum results, use as follows:
First, to clarify your hair for treatment, shampoo with Ouidad Clear Shampoo or
Curl Quencher Shampoo. Clear Shampoo is a gentle, effective cleanser that contains
no oils or waxes to coat the hair. Important: Be sure not to use a shampoo/conditioner-type
shampoo before applying your Deep Treatment. These shampoos leave a coating on the
hair that will impede the treatment process. The Curl Quencher Shampoo contains
extra moisturizers for dry, parched, even unruly curls.
Second, towel dry and comb hair with a wide-tooth comb. Separate hair into 3 to
5 sections (depending on length and thickness) from top to bottom. Completely saturate
each section with Deep Treatment by combing the treatment through the hair with
your fingers. You will need approximately 2 ounces of Deep Treatment to cover shoulder-length
hair, more for very long or thick hair.
Third, pop on a plastic shower cap and apply heat with a hood-style dryer, or
use a hair bonnet that attaches to your blow-dryer, for 20 minutes on low heat.
For longer or thicker hair, add another 10 minutes to ensure thorough heating. Other
methods you can use to heat the hair include: wrapping warmed towels around the
head; sleeping with the plastic hair cap on overnight; sitting out in the sun. If
not using a constant source of low heat such as a hood dryer, please allow for additional
conditioning time, up to 2 hours, to ensure thorough heating. Note: Heating the
hair is an important step. Heat will allow the cuticle of hair to relax and allow
the penetration of the essential nutrients, increasing hair's molecular weight.
After heating, allow hair to cool for five minutes; then to promote easy detangling,
work Ouidad Balancing Rinse or Curl Quencher Conditioner through still-saturated
hair. Rinse both out completely, using cool water to help seal the cuticle, but
allow a little coating to remain. Don't shampoo the next day-the treatment is more
effective when it's allowed to penetrate for 48 hours. It is recommended that you
repeat the treatment every two weeks for the first three months. At the point that
you do not notice an improvement in your hair after a treatment, you'll know that
your hair is maintaining its optimum condition. Switch to monthly treatments.
Ouidad Deep Treatment can be effective as a leave-in treatment between your regular
deep-heating applications for extra protection and frizz control on humid days.
After shampooing and gently towel blotting the hair, apply a small amount of Deep
Treatment to fingers and scrunch through the hair. Style as usual.

Tips on Applying
Deep Treatment Intensive Conditioner
- Using the pads of your fingers, wash the scalp, not the hair. Avoid bunching
hair on top of your head during shampooing; the more you scrub and tug at it, the
more breakage you'll get.
- Gently detangle curls while hair is wet, using the largest-tooth comb you can
find. Instead of starting at the scalp, try combing through the bottom few inches...
continue gently working upward in small sections until you've reached the scalp.
You'll save yourself from excessive-and painful-tugging.

After
I’ve heated the deep conditioning treatment in my hair for 45 -60 minutes (I use
a heat cap, by the way), I apply a generous amount of Balancing Rinse throughout
my hair while it was still hot and then allow it to cool for 5-10 minutes. I then
rinse it out in the kitchen sink, allowing the water to run first until it was very,
very cold. I gently squeeze out excess water (head still in sink), lightly blot
with a hand towel, section it off, gel and style.
