 1. Begin with freshly washed and conditioned hair. Distribute Botanical Boost throughout the mane to maximize moisture retention. Why wet hair? A wet to dry set with clips optimizes the cascading effect-the curls form away from the head and fall loosely instead of limp against the scalp.

 2. Apply Climate Control Gel to the entire mane using the "rake and shake" method. Starting with the bottom layer of hair, work in the gel from the nape to the face in two inch sections.
Rake & Shake: Use your open fingers to rake a section of hair. When you’ve reached the ends, move your fingers together for a tighter grip and shake the hair so the natural wave appears. Use this motion to create the desired curl pattern and position. Note: The amount of hair between your fingers determines the curl’s diameter, so the more hair, the looser the curl, less hair, the bouncier the curl.

 3. For the front section, simply rake and shake the hair away from the face towards the back to create height. Position duckbill clips to anchor these sections. Style the shortest sections or bangs after the rest of the hair is set.
 4. Once the clips are in place, spray the hair with Styling Mist for a light hold and diffuse dry with warm air. When the hair is dry, remove the clips carefully.

Let curls form naturally with a diffuser...
Using a diffuser attachment on a blow dryer allows hair to take on it's natural curl as it drys. These three shots show Carly's curls slowly taking shape.

 5. Finish with a pea-sized drop of Clear Control Pomade. Rub it between your hands and start to release curls by smoothing your palms over the head as if gathering the hair into a ponytail.
6. Flip your hair over and massage the scalp with the fingertips to expand the hair without having to tease the roots.

7. With a medium-sized natural bristle round brush, blow out only your bangs or chin-length layers to get the smooth effect Carly is wearing.
8. One final application of Clear Pomade (just a drop) will insure extra shine.
