It’s that Time of Year…Back to School Curls

All ready for school!

By now most of our little ones are back to school. I don’t know about you, but finding the time to style my curly guys’ hair before pre-school is near impossible. My son, wakes up looking like he stuck his finger in a light socket. I definitely can not just brush it in the morning and send him on his way with a frizzy mess!

My Solution…

So here’s the trick. The night before, I cleanse and condition with Ouidad KRLY Kids Shampoo and Conditioner at bath time.

On wet hair, apply a quarter sized amount of Moisture Lock Leave-in Conditioner to the ends. Then apply Ouidad Curl Quencher Moisturizing Gel from roots to ends. Try letting their hair dry before bed. It’s okay if their hair has a bit of a crunch, it will soften in between all of their tossing and turning while snoozing.

If your child has longer hair, put it in a high ponytail (pineapple style) letting the hair lay on the pillow. Next morning, try Ouidad’s NEW Mongongo Oil Multi-Use Hair Treatment. Spray once on the palms of your hands and smooth over your little one’s frizz and flyways.

The Result…

Soft, smooth, and frizz-free for school!

I am so excited it is finally Spring! The birds are chirping, the weather is warming up, the flowers are blooming and it’s time to spruce up my hair!! So I am rocking some extensions for a little while and I am excited to play with the additional hair. The cool thing is, I have still been using my Ouidad products even though my hair is straight. I clearly I still need my Climate Control! It’s been raining a lot lately and the humidity is ugghh, way too much for it to be so early in the season. So thanks to Ouidad, I can use their products on not just my curly hair, but also my straight hair and extensions.

I want to share some of my summer styles I am loving right now:

Day 1: Don’t you just love fishtail braids?? I have been wanting to try one for so long. I practiced on my hair a couple of times. Hopefully, I can make it happen.

Day 2: Braided Crown. Okay, I’m obsessed with braided styles as you can see. You can do them with curly, wavy, or straight hair.

Day 3: Side ponytail with a side part! So simple and chic and it’s not just for little girls. Rock your tresses in a low ponytail to

Day 4: High buns are so haute! I love wearing them. You really show off your face with a cute, messy high bun.

Day 5: Half up/Half down is a style I used to always do as a child but you can rock this in a grown up way for the Spring.

Spring has finally sprouted and not a moment too soon. I’ve been patiently waiting, through the cold and what  seemed like sunless months, for this season.

What have I been waiting for you might ask? Well, with these new months comes flower, showers, and new hairstyles!

There are so many great looks I’ve been itching to wear for Spring.  Something about the heat from the sun and the light breeze of the evening winds makes me long for big and bold twist outs. I’m also thrilled to give wash & go’s a go, no pun intended. :)

Of course, you can never go wrong with a fro hawk in Spring. And, for the rare times when I just might have my curls straightened, a nice messy top knot.

What hairstyles will you be sporting for spring? Tell us for a chance to win one of Ouidad’s New Cream Stylers!

The Traveling Weather Woes for a Curly Haired Girl’s Fro!

Many of us are thanking god that it’s winter because we can bundle up and hide those extra pounds we’re carrying from over the holidays, while still protecting our hair from the elements with a hat or a chic bun! Right?! But let’s all hold hands and face the truth. Summer is right around the corner which means we need to commit to that workout regimen now and get your hair cocktail right for the heat. Two things I’m checking off my list right at the top of the year which, I admit, makes me feel highly accomplished!!!

For the body…Find your nearest Zumba class!! So much fun.

For the Hair, it’s always a work in progress. But I did win this past year when the constant travel for my job between different cities and climates proclaimed war against my hair!

This year I lived in:

Los Angeles, CA – dry air and “summery”

Denver, CO – cold, dry with high altitudes

New York , NY - really cold and wet

Salt Lake City, UT – dry and cool

Park City, UT – cool with high altitudes

and my grandest foe, what I like to call

HOTSTIN (Austin, TX)! ‘Cause it was HOTTTT!!

You see for two months back in August, I lived in one of the hottest, humid places on US soil… AUSTIN, TX. Those two months almost became,  “My Frizzy Hot Summer in Texas!”  Every single day topped 100+degree temperatures before noon. Now for an L.A. raised girl this swelter zone was follically challenging!

What’s a girl to do?

Well I held my frazzled Tina Turner ‘fro high, and dove into my scientific side like I was one of the fierce girls out to solve the hair mysteries on CSI Austin.

First order of business? FIND A MIRACLE!!

So I lunged for the products that would typically pull me out of a hair frazzled bind in the past, but this hair-tastrophe was beyond.

My hair choking on the limp dryness in my car on the way to set. So sad!
