Cypriano’s Tips for Curly Men!

Just in time for Father’s Day! Ouidad NYC Stylist, Cypriano, gives quick tips on caring for men’s curls…

FOR MEN WITH SHORT HAIR

Three essential products are necessary to maintain healthy curls and a stylish look on short hair.

Start with a good shampoo that is effective in cleansing the scalp and hair, and can be used daily like Ouidad’s Climate Control Shampoo.

Conditioner is vital to maintain the health of the hair as well as prevent dryness. Depending on the texture of the curls, a basic daily conditioner is great like Ouidad’s Balancing Rinse Daily Conditioner.

For styling, the Curl Quencher Moisturizing Gel is excellent for giving the right amount of hold without stiffness. Ouidad’s Clear Control Pomade can be used for wet looks and more textured short/funky hair styles.

FOR MEN WITH LONG HAIR

As a rule of thumb, long curly hair should not be shampooed more than 1-2 times a week.

Clear & Gentle Essential Daily Shampoo or WaterWorks Clarifying Shampoo are great choices here.

As far as conditioner, Balancing Rinse for fine to medium textures and Curl Quencher or Climate Control Conditioner for thick, tight/kinky curls.

Refresh next day hair instead of rewashing: Botanical Boost should be used on dry curls as a daily refresher. Just spray 2-3 times to  tame any frizzies.

A Quick Routine: Spray Botanical Boost on wet hair and detangle. Then, apply a quarter size  of gel in two sections, NOT ALL AT ONCE,  covering  curls evenly while running fingers through hair. Use a towel and give it a good scrunch at the end , then  leave it all alone to dry naturally.
