My Go-To Summer Style by The Fashionista Next Door

Happy Friday, Curl Friends! (giggles.) I’ve had such a great time guest posting here on the Ouidad blog during the month of July. Thanks for all of your kind comments and feedback, and I hope to keep in touch with you all over at my blog….and of course, you haven’t see the last of me here with my Ouidad buddies.

So, I kicked things off with my Top 10 Summer Must Haves Under $100. Well, July is coming to an end, summer is in full swing, and in many places it is HOT! As much as I love my curls, there comes a time in summer where I just have to pull my curls up and off my neck (or die of heat stroke!). I’ll take option #1, please.  Ponytails and buns are the obvious option, but you may have noticed a one particular uber chic version of the bun has held its place as a top hair trend for the last couple seasons

The Top Knot.

Traveling While Curly by The Fashionista Next Door

Hello, beautiful people!

Today, I’m writing to you all from Anaheim, CA. I’m here for a week on business, and I don’t know about you, but traveling while curly has always been a little tricky for me, especially when traveling for business.  I don’t mind it so much when I’m traveling for leisure, but when I travel for work, I usually have very little time to fuss with my hair.  The thing with traveling while curly is I have to haul my entire bathroom cabinet with me, plus a blowdryer and a diffuser. And everyday I have to wake up 40 minutes early to wash, detangle, and diffuse…and mentally prepare for the possibility that my hair might decide to rebel against me (as it often does when I am not home and without a backup plan.) OH! And thanks to the TSA, carrying on my full-size products isn’t an option, and travel size products are no match for my curly mane…soooooo, let’s add $25 to the travel budget.  Sounds fun, right? NOT.  With all this in mind, I have always decided to straighten my hair when I travel for work…it always felt easier!  But, this time around, I committed to not straightening my hair for my trip.  I told myself I was going to learn how to manage my curls on the go!

Here’s what I brought with me on my trip…

Cleaning: Ouidad Clear & Gentle Essential Daily Shampoo

Conditioning: Ouidad Balancing Rinse Daily Conditioner and Moisture Lock Leave-in Conditioner

Styling: Ouidad Curl Quencher Hydrafusion Intense Curl Cream, Climate Control Heat & Humidity Gel, and Botanical Boost

Tools: Cool Marc Jacobs Tote for carrying and storing all my products, my Ouidad Double Detangler comb, one hair clip, hair ties, and bobby pins in case I need to pull my hair up into a top knot in a pinch.

6 Things My Healthy Hair Journey Taught Me by The Fashionista Next Door

Eboni from Fashionista-next-door.com

I started my “Healthy Hair Journey” on my blog back in June of 2011. (Wow! I didn’t realize that it’s been just over a year until I looked it up for this post.)  When I started, I had all these perceptions about my hair – how it looked, how it felt, the texture, the density, the growth potential, my styling limitations options…I could go on and on. I looked at my hair and thought “it just is what it is.” A year later, I realize that most of my perceptions of my hair were just plain wrong…and very limiting.  In fact, they led me to believe that my hair was prettier and easier to manage straight. Hmph!

Here are 5 lessons my journey to healthy hair has taught me so far…and I’m still learning!
