Spring is in the air! What better way to get ready for the season than to spruce up your wardrobe?
Adding key pieces to your outfit repertoire doesn’t have to cost you tons of money. With a few tricks & some “out of the box” shopping, you can achieve an awesome Spring look for less.

Patrice, creator of the fabulous thrifting blog Looking Fly On a Dime, shares her expert tips on how us curly girls can breath life into our Spring wardrobe, without breaking the bank!
Me: How do you do find current trends when shopping at a second hand store?
Patrice: Fashion is so cyclical; so you’ll always find every trend possible. The florals that were big in the 70s are at your local thrift store and so current for what’s hot now.
Platforms and high waisted pants were also hot then and now. You can walk in to a thrift store at any time and you’ll realize what’s old is “new” again and it’s super cheap.
Me: What are some quick ways to maximize your thrift store shopping experience?
Patrice: I always suggest [that] people thrift with their friends. If you’re new to thrifting or have a limited time, this is a great way to maximize the experience.
Tell your friend what you’re looking for; have her tell you what she’s looking for and that way, you can essentially help each other out. It’s like having an extra set of eyes, which is always helpful since thrifting can be overwhelming for some people.
It also makes the shopping trip more fun. Some of my best thrift store finds have come from my friends seeing something they knew I’d love and then passing it off to me.
Me: What current Spring tends/looks do you think compliment curly hair?
Patrice: Are there any trends that don’t compliment curly hair? But I think we look really great in abstract print dresses. The print’s so bold and so is our hair, so it’s a perfect combo!

Me with my amazing finds!
Me: Share with us one thrifting secret every price conscious shopper should know.
Patrice: Every shopper should know that thrift stores have sales; so you can get savings on top of savings.
Wednesday is Family Day at many Salvation Army stores and you can score half off of most times. And some stores (Goodwill, B-Thrifty, Savers, etc) have Rewards Cards so you earn points every time you shop.
I use my Goodwill Rewards card religiously and I’ve received several $10 off coupons which I’ve used to purchase shoes, dresses and other goodies.
Happy Shopping!
Adrienne
