Share Your Spring Curls For a Chance To Win!

Lexi’s Picks

I am so excited it is finally Spring! The birds are chirping, the weather is warming up, the flowers are blooming and it’s time to spruce up my hair!! So I am rocking some extensions for a little while and I am excited to play with the additional hair. The cool thing is, I have still been using my Ouidad products even though my hair is straight. I clearly I still need my Climate Control! It’s been raining a lot lately and the humidity is ugghh, way too much for it to be so early in the season. So thanks to Ouidad, I can use their products on not just my curly hair, but also my straight hair and extensions.

I want to share some of my summer styles I am loving right now:

Day 1: Don’t you just love fishtail braids?? I have been wanting to try one for so long. I practiced on my hair a couple of times. Hopefully, I can make it happen.

Day 2: Braided Crown. Okay, I’m obsessed with braided styles as you can see. You can do them with curly, wavy, or straight hair.

Day 3: Side ponytail with a side part! So simple and chic and it’s not just for little girls. Rock your tresses in a low ponytail to

Day 4: High buns are so haute! I love wearing them. You really show off your face with a cute, messy high bun.

Day 5: Half up/Half down is a style I used to always do as a child but you can rock this in a grown up way for the Spring.

Spring has finally sprouted and not a moment too soon. I’ve been patiently waiting, through the cold and what  seemed like sunless months, for this season.

What have I been waiting for you might ask? Well, with these new months comes flower, showers, and new hairstyles!

There are so many great looks I’ve been itching to wear for Spring.  Something about the heat from the sun and the light breeze of the evening winds makes me long for big and bold twist outs. I’m also thrilled to give wash & go’s a go, no pun intended. :)

Of course, you can never go wrong with a fro hawk in Spring. And, for the rare times when I just might have my curls straightened, a nice messy top knot.

What hairstyles will you be sporting for spring? Tell us for a chance to win one of Ouidad’s New Cream Stylers!

Contest ends 4/14/2012 at 11:59 PM EDT. 5 winners will each receive a cream styler of their choice- Curl Quencher Hydrafusion Intense Curl Cream or Moisture Lock Define & Shine Curl Styling Gel-Cream.

Ouidad has been cooking up a few new products to add to their repertoire and I am super excited to share some of the “hush hush” details with you.

In the coming weeks Ouidad will be launching these new additions that are sure to work wonders for curly hair.

I had a chance to try out one of the novice products and, I must say, I am quite impressed.

Now, because of the top-secret status, I can’t give you all the ends and outs. But, what I will say is this new product

truly defined my curls, left my hair soft and ultra hydrated.

Be on the lookout for the launch of Ouidads new products! Any curly girl, kinky, coily or wavy, is sure to love it.

Can’t wait for the official launch!

I’m Adrienne creator of the beauty blog Me, My Hair & the City, avid natural hair connoisseur, and lover of all things fabulous.

Me, My Hair & the City is an extension of my everyday life and  virtual quest to “make every woman a little more fabulous.” Visit my blog if you are interested in learning the “ins & outs” of natural hair, how to stay “fly” on a budget and the latest in all things beauty. I’m so excited to share my thoughts with you as this month’s Guest Blogger!

Spring is in the air! What better way to get ready for the season than to spruce up your wardrobe?

Adding key pieces to your outfit repertoire doesn’t have to cost you tons of money. With a few tricks & some “out of the box” shopping, you can achieve an awesome Spring look for less.

Patrice, creator of the fabulous thrifting blog Looking Fly On a Dime, shares her expert tips on how us curly girls can breath life into our Spring wardrobe, without breaking the bank!

Me: How do you do find current trends when shopping at a second hand store?

Patrice: Fashion is so cyclical; so you’ll always find every trend possible. The florals that were big in the 70s are at your local thrift store and so current for what’s hot now.

Platforms and high waisted pants were also hot then and now. You can walk in to a thrift store at any time and you’ll realize what’s old is “new” again and it’s super cheap.

Me: What are some quick ways to maximize your thrift store shopping experience?

Patrice: I always suggest [that] people thrift with their friends. If you’re new to thrifting or have a limited time, this is a great way to maximize the experience.

Tell your friend what you’re looking for; have her tell you what she’s looking for and that way, you can essentially help each other out. It’s like having an extra set of eyes, which is always helpful since thrifting can be overwhelming for some people.

It also makes the shopping trip more fun. Some of my best thrift store finds have come from my friends seeing something they knew I’d love and then passing it off to me.

Me: What current Spring tends/looks do you think compliment curly hair?

Patrice: Are there any trends that don’t compliment curly hair? But I think we look really great in abstract print dresses. The print’s so bold and so is our hair, so it’s a perfect combo!

Me with my amazing finds!

Me: Share with us one thrifting secret every price conscious shopper should know.

Patrice: Every shopper should know that thrift stores have sales; so you can get savings on top of savings.

Wednesday is Family Day at many Salvation Army stores and you can score half off of most times. And some stores (Goodwill, B-Thrifty, Savers, etc) have Rewards Cards so you earn points every time you shop.

I use my Goodwill Rewards card religiously and I’ve received several $10 off coupons which I’ve used to purchase shoes, dresses and other goodies.

Happy Shopping!
