Confessions of a Curly Headed Mommy
I told everyone who read last week’s blog post that this month I am revealing secrets about me. This week I have a secret that comes straight from the mind of a Mommy (commonly referred as M.O.M.) and all of the things that I thought would happen before I had all three of my sweet children.
Before I became a mommy, I imagined motherhood as this institution that included many kisses, hugs and constant trips to child friendly places and time just to be mommy. I even had my life all planned out something like this.. I would wake up midmorning, cook a gourmet breakfast, drop all of the kiddies off at their schools and enjoy a day of constant pampering. In the afternoon I would pick them up and we would enjoy a 5 course meal and then I would help them with their homework, play with them and miraculously have them ALL in bed by 9pm. Some days do happen like this but I have to tell you the truth about what happens the other 364 days of the year.
After becoming a mommy, I saw what happens in the “real world” of being a mommy that no one talks about or even mentions until you’re too far in the trenches to complain. For example, read what my life is really like. I’m usually up by 5 am to make sure my entire family is showered, fed and on our way to our respective locations on time. After 8 grueling hours at work, I come home exhausted from work and too tired to cook (thank goodness for takeout)! Throughout the afternoon I flex my multitasking skills by helping my son complete his dreaded middle school homework and my toddlers work on tracing their letters all while attempting to hold an adult conversation with my husband.
This ladies and gentlemen is a typical day in the life of BossyGirl but I have to let you know that I was not ready for this hectic lifestyle. As a result, my personal “fly” style suffered for a few months and (…shhhhh) and I fell I into a style slump. I would walk around with my curls dry, clothes wrinkled with the eyes of a “wild woman”. To make it even worse I did the ultimate “no-no”. I blamed it on the kids and family with the usual excuses: I was too tired to take care of myself; the hectic schedule of being a mother was getting to me, etc.
Everything began to change for me this summer when I got my hand on some products that not only help me in the hair department, but in the time management department also. Ouidad’s 12 minute Deep Conditioner has helped me shave off an hour of my time on my weekly deep conditioning treatments with me and my daughter. This quick treatment is perfect for moms on the go because after ONLY 12 minutes our hair is soft and manageable. I went from looking like a mad woman to becoming a Diva in Training. Around the same time that I discovered this deep conditioning treatment, I began using Ouidad’s Climate Control Heat & Humidity Gel to help control my puff in summer. What I found was pure magic for my hair! My hair no longer looked crazy and I could immediately find any crackers the kids put in my hair.
I’m still working on my personal style since I have lost a lot of weight from running but things are slowly coming together. Now, I have more time to dedicate to my mommy duties such as cleaning snotty noses, helping complete projects, attending P.T.A. meetings and all other activities that help me stay a Rock Star Mommy! I know there are a ton of other women like me…trying to balance being a great mommy with being fabulous and I want to help you!
Until Monday 10/17/11 11:59pm EST , I want to giveaway three 8 ounce 12 Minute Deep Treatments from Ouidad.com to help all of my Mommies out there!
