Which Cut is Right For Me? Ouidad to the rescue!

Wednesday, 22 July 2009 by Linda

Have you ever had a cut that left your hair lying flat at the roots then puffing out at the ends into a mass of frizz?  Ouidad has dubbed this the Pyramid Effect.

haircutThanks to eHow.com for the Image

After years of receiving terrible haircuts, Ouidad decided to take matters into her own hands. Our patented “carving and slicing” method is the result. This link not only gives you the step-by-step process of what goes into this specialized cut and styling method, but is also a fantastic visual of what it should look like!

When it comes to curls, a great cut is the most important aspect of managing your hair.  One important note from Ouidad – if your hairdresser mentions “layering,” “texturizing,” or “thinning,” you should run, and fast!

For curls, these three methods are style suicide!  Layering creates horizontal cuts, with the shorter layers shrinking up to make that awful “Earmuff Effect”.  Texturizing causes unevenness and frizz while thinning creates a combination of tight curls and long limp locks.  Sound good?  We didn’t think so!

Ouidad expert stylist Alex wrote about one encounter with a client who’d had nothing but bad cuts, until he visited the New York salon. OUIDAD to the rescue! We just want you to love your curls, and the best way to start is with a great haircut!

I was told by my hairdressor that the carve and slice method would not work on my hair. My hair is short (right below ears) and layered. She said the carving would show on short hair. It is texturized also due to the thickness and grows out looking frizzy. Is this true?

  2. 2Valorie

Carving and Slicing is the ultimate cut for all lengths of hair. It is applicable for hair as short as 2” from the scalp. With the cutting of the curvature of the curl pattern by carving and slicing, you’ll find the curls will puzzle into each other and perform better for you . Thank you for your question and make sure you are using a certified stylist who has been trained in Carving & Slicing.

I am confused. How to style very short hair if it is not long enough to shake? I live in Illinois and have never had a good cut. I have been wearing my hair short so it will not curl. At 51 I have decided to accept my curls. I want to let is grow to chin length but what do I tell my stylist when I go. She has used every technique you say not to use. HELP

  4. 4Nicoline

Thank you for writing in and congratulations on your curl acceptance!

Growing your hair out can be a tedious experience. I would certainly recommend visiting a Ouidad certified salon. We do have two in Illinois – Cheveux Salon and Day Spa in Glen Ellyn, and Fox Hair in Chicago. If you do visit a non-certified salon, make sure to tell the stylist not to thin, texturize or layer your hair. Here is an excerpt from Ouidad’s book Curl Talk further explaining: “Layering creates horizontal, shelf like blunt cuts through your mane…forming the dreaded Earmuff Effect. Texturizing…involves snipping random pieces of hair to redefine the shape and add dimension to the hair. On curls, these missing sections of hair cause unevenness, unwanted shrinkage and frizz. Thinning shears cut exactly one half of the chosen section of hair, so one half shrinks up into a tight curl and the other half remains long and limp.”
It also recommends that you invest in our 12 Minute Deep Treatment Intensive Repair which will help keep your hair healthy and hydrated. Also, be sure to shampoo your hair only 2-3 times per week as to avoid over-drying. The healthier your hair, the faster the growing out process!

I was told of ouidad for the first time this week. I saw a curly head with great looking hairdo that looked like a style not just a mop of curls. She pointed me to ouidad & gave me the card of her stylist who is 100+ miles from me. I am very happy to find web sites. Thanx Ouidad.

You say to shampoo 2-3 times per week, but what about the build up of product in your hair? My head starts itching after one day and doesn’t smell fresh.

  7. 7admin

    Dear Lori,

Thank you for writing in, it is not necessary to shampoo every day. This allows your natural oils to lubricate and protect your hair. Washing the hair every other day will work as well; using Ouidad’s Botanical Boost to refresh and revive your curls in the morning and or throughout the day without re-washing, as it contains no oils or waxes to weigh your curls down. This will help your curls maintain fresh especially on the day your curls are left un-washed. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact our customer service team at 800-677-4247 and one of our curl experts will be glad to assist you.

Thank you and have a great day.

I have curly hair thanks to hormone changes and a hystorectomy. After years of long hair I got it cut and donated it, during the short time it wasn’t curly, though now with growth it is. It is a strange mix of texture and curl pattern. I got the starter system but my curls just do not look good. I am not sure if I am using the right amounts or raking and shaking wrong…any ideas?

  9. 9Beth

I have long curly hair (somewhere between my shoulder bones and elbows), and I have layers between my chin and shoulder. The layers aren’t working for me, I’m considering getting rid of my layers, or getting a little shorter of a cut, and getting long, rounded layers. I’m following the curly girl method (no silicones, no SLS), but I’m still struggling to find the right products. I comb over my hair after I’ve applied products, so I can disguise my frizzy roots and limp, flat crown. I love my ends, and I don’t believe when people say your ends need the most attention, because my roots are the trouble. What can I do to prevent frizz? What cut should I get for my hair? Should I try Ouidad?

  10. 10admin

    Dear Beth,

Thank you for writing in, Layering creates horizontal, shelf-like blunt cuts throughout your mane. This can create the dreaded pyramid affect. We recommend the Carving & Slicing, this is a Ouidad unique haircut created 25 years ago specifically with your curls and waves in mind. It’s so unique that the US Trademark Office recognizes it with its own trademark. Essentially, Carving & Slicing removes the bulk associated with the dreaded “pyramid” look, while preserving and enhancing your natural curl pattern. This combination produces well-defined ringlets that fit gently into each other like puzzle pieces creating healthier, more manageable curls. It’s only available at Ouidad salons so beware of stylists claiming to “Carve & Slice” without the intense training, knowledge and understanding of curly hair that only the Curl Experts at Ouidad salons receive.

As for styling we would recommend the Moisture Lock Leave-in with the Climate Control Heat and Humidity Gel duo. This duo will help nourish your curls keeping them hydrated while helping you control the volume, frizz giving you bounce and definition. Using the Ouidad Rake & Shake technique for the Climate control application, apply a nickel size dollop to palms and work evenly to sections of damp hair. Starting at the nape area take a 2″ section of hair from ear to ear, and rake the lotion through; holding section at the end, then shake to reset your curl pattern. Repeat entire process, working in sections to the top of the head to your desired style

If you have any further questions and or concerns about our products and or your curls please feel free to contact us at 1-800-677-4247 and or via e-mail www. help@ouidad.com and one of our curl experts will be glad to further assist you. We look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you and have a great day.

I have long curly/wavy hair and have been getting the Ouidad haircut for the past couple of years. How often should I get the Ouidad cut, and should I alternate with “normal” haircuts? How often should I get the Ouidad cut? Basically, the Ouidad cut has thinned my hair (which I really like), but I don’t want eliminate much more of its volume. I’d really appreciate some suggestions!

    Thanks,

    Erica

  12. 12admin

    Dear Erica,

Thank you for writing in , we recommend getting a Ouidad Carve and Slice every 10-14 weeks. Always having a consultation with your stylist is of utmost importance as it expresses your individual curl needs; explaining to your stylist carving/slicing into the re-growth is what your specifically looking for and not into previously sliced/carved curls. Your consultation is your personal verbal contract with your stylist; it allows you to know exactly what to expect from beginning to end of your hair cut and eliminates the stress of guessing if you will get what you are looking for. This ensures you will walk out of the salon feeling beautiful and confident. If you have any further questions regarding our products and or your curls please feel free to contact us. Thank you for a being a Ouidad customer and curly friend.

  13. 13Melissa you

do you cut curly hair wet or dry

  14. 14admin

    Dear Melissa,

Thank you for your inquiry; Carving and Slicing is a method for cutting and styling curly hair developed by Ouidad. The procedure involves taking one section of the hair at a time and slicing lightly with the wave of the curl so the curls will cup gracefully into each other, instead of stacking on top of each other; your hair is cut wet and does not involve cutting the length unless requested.

We suggest going to a Ouidad certified salon for a consultation and tell the stylist what you are looking for in a cut/style. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us. Thank you and have a great day.

    Kind Regards,
    Ouidad Customer Service

How does the Ouidad method differ from the Deva Curl method? I’ve been a Deva curl girl for several years and it has helped my hair but I am curious about Ouidad since I have heard great things!

  16. 16admin

    Dear Gerry,

Thank you for writing in; Ouidad products are gentle, moisturizing and water-soluble. They work from the inside out to transform hair into its healthiest condition. If you are able to visit a Ouidad salon, Ouidad’s trademarked Carve & Slice cutting method provides the foundation for beautiful curls. Carving & Slicing is a Ouidad unique haircut created by Ouidad specifically with your curls and waves in mind. The Ouidad Carve & Slice is done on dampened hair. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us.

  17. 17Cara

I have very fine, thin, fragile curly hair – not a good combination. I have never had the problem with the pyramid effect (I just don’t have enough hair). Most of the comments I have read online say that the carve and slice method actually thins the hair which is good for people with thick dense hair but definitely not for my hair as I try to get as much volume out of my hair as possible without it appearing frizzy. What kind of cut should I get? Thanks!

  18. 18admin

    Dear Cara,

Thank you for writing in, fine hair works well with shorter cuts that don’t weigh it down. A shorter cut gives fine hair added bounce and movement which makes it appear fuller. A good Carving and Slicing around the face framing sections will fall into fairly smooth pieces helping you achieve the Volumized look. A bob cut works well for fine hair, bob cuts come in a variety of styles you can make it work with bangs! The short style gives fine hair more bounce and frequent cuttings keep the ends of hair from splitting; however we highly recommend visiting your local salon for a more accurate consultation; as a cut also has a lot to do with your facial features and it is always better having a visual consultation. Never be afraid to voice out your needs to the stylist during your consultation, this will help him/her best meet your curl needs. While styling thin hair, adding some waves with rollers and or a curling iron can be used to give fine hair some extra volume. Always use a styling product such as Ouidad’s Climate Control Moisture lock duo to protect hair from the added heat; the Moisture lock leave-in is great and light weight as fine hair tends to be dry. The Play Curl foam is also excellent when styling fine hair as it contains polymers that will add wanted volume. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us. Ouidad Products wishes you the best of luck in finding a style that works for you.

Thank you and have a great day.

    Best wishes,

  19. 19Mitzi

I naturally have very long thick wavy frizzy hair.
I had done the Japanese straightening on my hair many times, and now I feel my hair is just damaged with all the chemical straightening/ flat ironing. The new roots have some curl to it, but it is just not the same.
Will the Quidad Slice Method work on my hair to get my natural curls back and make my thick hair any thinner?

  20. 20admin

    Dear Mitzi,

Thank you for writing in, once you have used a Japanese straightening it will take time and very much needed attention to bring her curls back to its original state. In order to get rid of the relaxer you has to allow the treatment to grow out until there is enough new growth to bring back her natural curl pattern, While her hair is growing out, it is very important to keep the hair moisturized as the relaxer such as a Japanese straightening can break off and is very easily tangled as it is replaced with the new growth. She should wash her hair once to twice a week. As the growing out phase can cause breakage, but a moisturizing shampoo like Ouidad’s Curl Quencher shampoo can minimize this. Squeeze a quarter-size amount of shampoo into palms, and lather the hair, focusing on your ends. Allow the Curl Quencher shampoo to sit in the hair for a couple of minutes, and then gently rinse it out with warm water. Follow with Ouidad’s Deep treatment . It is recommended to deep treat her hair after every wash while undergoing the process of growing out the Japanese straightening. Ouidad’s Deep Treatment penetrates through the hair cuticle to nourish the internal structure of her curls, restoring bounce and controlling frizz while helping her curls grow and stay healthy and defined. Ouidad’s treatment also improves the hair’s softness and reduces the risk of tangling, which her hair is highly susceptible to when growing out. You should coat the hair with the Deep treatment and run a wide-toothed comb through the hair to evenly distribute the product. Please ensure the hair is lathered with Ouidad’s Deep treatment. Allow at least 45 minutes to one hour while providing heat or the Deep Treatment to penetrate the hair, cover with a shower cap and heat with blow dryer. Allow warm product to remain for at least 45 minutes. Before rinsing out, add a moisturizing conditioner such as the Curl Quencher conditioner on top of the deep treatment. Then rinse both products; allow a little coating to remain. These few step should slowly but surely allow her curls to come back to their natural state. Again it will take patience and time, as after undergoing a Japanese straightening is very harmful to your hair and growing it out is a very slow process. Also if you color treat your curls using the 12 minute Deep Treatment three days before coloring gives the strands substance and allows the colorants to absorb evenly and the repeat the process ten days after coloring, to keep the color molecules bonded and to prevent fading.

Using the Curl Quencher shampoo and conditioner for in the shower cleansing and moisturizing. The Curl Quencher Shampoo is a gentle, daily cleanser to pamper and nourish dry, thirsty curls. It is safe for color-treated, permed or straightened curls; use along with the Curl Quencher conditioner – to help you detangle even the most unruly of curls; it seals in moisture and protects fragile, damaged hair with vitamins and botanicals. It is best to cleanse your curls every second to third day as frequent shampooing can contribute to dryness; it is safe to condition ever other day by rinsing with warm water for the best results; however if there is a tendency of weighed down curls you can combine the Curl Quencher shampoo with Ouidad Balancing Rinse for an even amount of moisture.

Remember to replace your brush with a Ouidad’s Wide-Tooth Comb as it is easier to damage curly hair with a brush, whether wet or dry. Detangling your curls while dry with any tool is not a good idea; separating the curls dry just causes more frizz. Leaving some conditioner in dry sections like the ends is always a good idea!

To help you eliminate the frizz while styling; you can use our Climate Control Heat and Humidity gel. The Climate Control contains heat-activated European Wheat Protein has a shielding effect on hair that breathes with the humidity, protecting the hair shaft and preventing hair from expanding. Amino Acids and Vitamin A nourish and hydrate hair, leaving it soft, manageable and full of shine; it’s also excellent at protecting hair from blow-dryer heat when a straight style is desired. Gently scrunch your hair with a t-shirt, paper towels, or a micro-fiber towel to remove excess moisture, as a terrycloth towel will cause friction and will lead to frizzy curls. You can defuse and or let you curls air dry. Good luck in bring those curls back to life! Hopefully this helps! If you have any further questions please feel free to contact one our curl experts at 1-800-677-4247 Mon-Fri 9am-5pm eastern time. Thank you and have a great day.

I have naturally curly hair and have always been told to layer it, texture it, and thin it. I have done this for years (every 6 to 8 weeks) and find that my hair always looks the same and has indeed went from being full of volume and thick to being boring and thin. I am considering a visit to the salon in the next town to see if my hair can be rescued. Do you think that my thin, limp, boring hair can be restored to its former beauty? Thank you for your help and your time in reading and responding.

  22. 22admin

    Dear Summor,

Thank you for writing in, we defiantly recommend visiting a local certified Ouidad Salon for a Carve & Slice. Essentially the Carve & Slice removes the bulk associated with the dreaded “pyramid” look, while preserving and enhancing your natural curl pattern. The combination produces well-defined ringlets that fit gently into each other like puzzle pieces creating healthier, more manageable curls. We truly believe that the Ouidad Carve & Slice will bring out your curls inner beauty! A good Carving and Slicing around the face framing sections will fall into fairly smooth pieces helping you achieve the Volumized look that you are currently searching for after your prior salon experiences. Hi, I have shoulder-length wavy hair, but not thick or voluminous. I want it to be as curly as possible, but not thinned out. I’m allergic to the products, so that’s not an issue. Would the Ouidad haircut be better for me or layers be better to make my hair more curly, not counting all the scrunching and shaking out techniques?

  24. 24Ouidad-The Curl Experts

Hi Lois! Thank you for writing in, a good Carving and Slicing around the face framing sections will fall into fairly smooth pieces helping you achieve the Volumized and more defined curls. However we would defiantly recommend visiting a local Ouidad certified Salon for a Carve & Slice. It is always in your best interest to book a consultation before hand as your consultation is your personal verbal contract with your stylist. I’ve been using Ouidad products for years, but had my first Ouidad cut almost two weeks ago. My stylist is Ouidad certified but still layered my hair. She did the carve and slicing technique only at the roots and then, held my hair by the ends and pulled the slightly opened scissors down the length of the curl. I left with one side shorter and more layered than the other. Two days later, I called back and asked that she even the sides. Now, the once longer side is shorter and more layered than the other. I paid $110 for a Ouidad certified stylist to give me a Ouidad cut and ended up with a cut no better than I’ve ever received before. I am so disappointed.

I have naturally wavy medium texture hair, that is currently cut in a chin length angled bob. This cut looks great straight , but it is alot of work to get it straight. It looks horrible curly, like I have mushroom hair. When my hair is longer, I can make my curls soft with a beachy look. But I cannot achieve this look now that it is short. If I get a ouidad cut, can I still style my hair straight in this bob style and get a better look when it is curly?

  40. 40Ouidad-The Curl Experts

Hi Dawn! Great question, Carving & Slicing removes the bulk associated with the dreaded “pyramid” look, while preserving and enhancing your natural curl pattern. I have coarse, dense curls that range from loose corkscrews to tight coils and find that my hair grows very quickly. I am determined not to keep it super short anymore but would love your guidance as to how to maintain well hydrated and defined curls.

    Thanks much,

I had a Quidad haircut at a salon in my area. I am noticing longer hanging strands of hair, not sure if its just my hair isn’t falling into the curl pattern or if it wasn’t cut properly, the stylist did not go along the ends at all when cutting to make a straight line on the bottom, just did the carve and slice. Is it possible to do both with a Quidad cut? Not entirely happy since I spent $100 on this haircut but have not mentioned anything to the sylist since the cut 2 weeks ago.

  45. 45Lisa

    Hi,

I am in need of a good haircut. I have kinky curly hair, my ethnicity is Asian and African, just to give you an idea. I want more of a style, rather than just a messy head of curls with no real shape. However, I do not like the “upside down bowl” of curls or that big mushroom shape of wormy ringlets that seem so common these days. I like my curls defined and hanging down but maybe in some attractive LONG layers. I like a look of movement and ease, not stiff style. Do you think the carve and slice would be for me?

    thanks!

  46. 46Deborah

My hair has thinned due to heredity. There are blank areas and the top is very thin. My hair has tons of curl, and has different textures naturally, in various places. When dried and straightened, it is 7-8 inches below my shoulders. When wet, and left to dry, it is shoulder length. What can I do for this problem?

I had my name put on a waiting list at a Quidad salon that is a 3 hour drive from where I live. I left my name over a year ago and have not heard anything from them, at all.

Hello, I have a 6 year old biracial child with a head of hair akin to a 25 year old! It’s amazing but very demanding/time consuming. We definitely fight the pyramid effect especially since a layering a few cuts ago. My question is whether the carve and slice is a good option for a biracial child of this age? I used to layer my curls when I was young, but I started noticing that my curls lost all the magic I loved when I was a tiny girl. My hair has got better but by layering my hair I lost a lot of volume, I would like to know if there is any way possible to restore my hair and its volume to what it used to be?

  51. 51Ouidad-The Curl Experts

Great question Vanessa! Our Carve & Slice technique removes the bulk associated with the dreaded “pyramid” look, while preserving and enhancing your natural curl pattern. This combination produces well-defined ringlets that fit gently into each other like puzzle pieces creating healthier, more manageable curls. This is definitely the best option for your daughter and a Ouidad trained stylists can help! To search for a Ouidad Salon closest to you visit us here: http://www.ouidad.com/salons

Hi. I am currently on mission in Afghanistan but soon to take a short break in Dubai. Are there any salons in Dubai who are qualified to do the Carve and Slice haircut? I have read all about it on your website and would love, just once!, to have a haircut with someone who knows curly hair!

  53. 53Beth

I totally relate to your descriptions of the pyramid effect and the earmuff effect. I’ve tried to explain these problems to stylists my whole life and they just never get it. I’ve just started using Ouidad products on my hair and am amazed at how light they are, yet effective. I’m lucky that there’s a Ouidad-certified stylist about 1/2 hour from where I live. I hear it’s a long wait for an appointment but since my hair was just murdered by a stylist it probably needs to grow out anyway. As a follow up to the previous question: I also have combination hair: wavy and frizzy on top but straighter and finer underneath. How will this work with a Carve & Slice cut?

Hi, I plan on visiting NYC the first week of December in 2012, but since I am not sure of my plans, I cannot schedule an appointment. Does the NYC Ouidad salon accept walk-ins? I would be interested in having the Carve and Slice cut done.

    Hi Ouidad -

I have shoulder length fine curly hair that looks shorter than it actually is because it curls so much. I am 53 years old and lately, I have noticed that my hair seems to be flatter and frizzier than it used to be. The bottom has kinky curls which make me crazy.

Would a Ouidad cut help me? Are there any salons in the Worcester, Massachusetts – Central Massachusetts area? What can I expect when I go for one of these cuts?

  60. 60Kelly

Hello, I am thinking about the Ouidad haircut for my curly hair. I also like to wear my hair straight at times. Will this cut look good when I straighten my hair? Thank you so much!

  61. 61Lexi

I have long curly hair that I’ve been struggling with for a while, there’s too much volume and frizziness. I’m interested in getting a carve and slice cut, but I don’t want to lose too much length. Is this possible?

  62. 62Beth

I have wavy, tending toward frizzy, thin hair. At the moment it is quite short, although the top is around 2-3 inches long. I’m growing it out and a friend has had lovely carve and slice cuts at the Ouidad salon in Knoxville. How long should my hair be all over to try a Ouidad cut?

  63. 63Nicole

How does a Ouidad haircut effect the look of the hair when its straightened with a flat iron or blow out?

  64. 64Miquael

    Hello,
I have combination tight and kinky hair and am looking to get a short cut, sort of like a curly pixie, but am unsure if it will work with my hair type? Any suggestions on some better alternatives if this will not work. I am hoping to find a Ouidad certified salon in my area and want to make sure that I come in with a good visual of what I want.
    Thanks

Hi Miquael- Definitely a great question! Short hair has definitely been a hot trend. Recently one of our favorite bloggers, Joy Adaeze received a short cut from Ayanna at the Ouidad New York Salon. http://www.ouidad.com/blog/2013/08/19/joy-adaezes-ouidad-makeover/#.UrH_nfRDt1k To search locally for a Ouidad Certified Salon visit here.- http://www.ouidad.com/Salons

I tried the Ouidad cut and my hair has never looked worse! It left my thick curls with wispy fly-away ends and instead of what was maybe a little too much but manageable volume it is now flat and spiky. It looked fine in the salon after the stylist put about $25 worth or products in and scrunched for a half hour but i can’t duplicate anything attractive even with effort and the products that have always worked well for me. The only good thing i can say is that hair grows out. I can’t wait for a couple inches to grow in so i can go back to my $15 Supercuts trims!

Hi Tamara- We are so sorry to hear about this and would love to make this right! What salon did you receive this haircut?

  71. 71Laura

I have medium length (just below shoulder with a couple of face framing layers) hair that is changing texture as I get older. I’m now mid-40s; I went gray very young and have colored my hair at an Aveda salon for years. My hair used to hold finger-twisted ringlets all over my head, now only the pieces by my face hold the curl and the rest is just wavy and frizzy. Plus I seem to be thinning at the crown and my scalp is starting to show. I only wash 2-3 times/week and only blow dry occasionally. Have never had my hair straightened or flat-ironed as I want to work with my hair, not fight it! Would a Ouidad cut help me since I don’t have curls all over to nestle into each other? Thanks!

  72. 72Kim

I went to get my daughters hair cut and I was told that they needed to flat iron it before the cut. I wanted a second opinion and I went to a salon whose stylist said that she was a qualified Quidad stylist. She informed me that my daughters hair should not be flat ironed at all. She did the slicing and it turned out great but I would like to know is this statement true. Thanks

  73. 73Ouidad-The Curl Experts

Hi Kim- She is absolutely right! As we always say, Iron Clothes Not Curls! Curls should absolutely NOT be straightened in order to cut them. Glad that you went to a Ouidad Certified Stylist!

I’m in my fifties with about 30% gray (natural, no color) which is mostly in the front/top, curls mostly 3A with some 3B. I have a stylist who’s a good cutter (specializes in curly hair, but no Ouidad training), but I’m bored and looking for something else. I live in the Seattle area and noticed there are now a couple of Ouidad certified stylists in my area. My hair isn’t very thick–voluminuous, but not thick. I’m a little scared of the debulking process; can you explain? thanks! Oh, my hair is currently just shoulder length unstretched in the back, shorter in front.

  76. 76Ouidad-The Curl Experts

Hi Katlyne- Thank you for your patience! Due to the high volume of inquiries it may take some time but we try to get to everyone. This is definitely a great question. Our Ouidad Certified Stylists are intensely trained on our Carving and Slicing technique. No need to be scared! Essentially, Carving & Slicing removes the bulk associated with the dreaded “pyramid” look, while preserving and enhancing your natural curl pattern. This combination produces well-defined ringlets that fit gently into each other like puzzle pieces creating healthier, more manageable curls. We encourage you to visit your closest Ouidad Certified stylist so that they can asses your curls in person and make the proper recommendation.

Well, I got the cut, and I’ve given it a couple of months to settle…don’t like it. The stylist treated me like I was stupid and didn’t tell me what she was up to, even after I questioned her wetting my hair. My hair hasn’t tangled this badly in YEARS. The only thing that’s changed is this cut. I will be returning to my old hairdresser and finding a new style with her. Just so y’all know: Ouidad cuts may not be the answer to your hair dreams. Wish I’d followed my gut feeling and walked out when she wanted to wet me down…
